Open Data Portal: Technological innovation at the service of international trade
The Province of Córdoba has launched an innovative and interactive platform that centralizes key trade data, based on accurate and up-to-date information, which is highly useful for decision-making in international trade. This is the Open Data Portal, a strategic and modern tool, fully developed by the Commercial Intelligence (CI) Department of the ProCórdoba Agency. The portal offers interactive open data on Argentine exports and imports, including historical analysis, key products, trade destinations, and regional trends. It also allows you to view this data in detail by province and region, with a special focus on Córdoba. It also includes prediction and trend analysis tools to facilitate strategic decision-making. Its objective is to provide detailed and up-to-date information that allows for the analysis of international trade dynamics, the identification of opportunities, and the making of statistically-based decisions. The data comes from official sources, such as the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) and the Statistics and Census Directorate of the Province of Córdoba, ensuring its accuracy and constant updating. ODP is now available at this link. Its uses and utilities This portal is freely accessible and was designed for use by business owners, entrepreneurs, international trade professionals, government agencies, researchers, and anyone interested in analyzing trade data. It will allow them to identify opportunities, stay ahead of the competition, optimize their strategies, and facilitate their internationalization process. In addition, this tool offers tutorials and guides to make it easier for all types of users. Technology available to International Trade The portal was developed using technologies such as Excel, Google Sheets, Access, and Power BI, which allow for interactive data visualization. "At IC, we have integrated Big Data and Data Mining tools to improve our analytical and decision-making capabilities. These tools allow you to process large volumes of data, identifying patterns and trends that would not otherwise be visible. We've also implemented ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, which allow us to extract data from various sources, transform it according to the analysis needs, and load it into the platform for subsequent visualization and predictive analysis, thus providing users with advance information on market behavior," explains Sofía Casini, head of the IC Area at ProCórdoba Agency. "In the future, we plan to include additional modules on logistics, analysis by economic bloc, and other key factors of international trade. In addition, the portal will feature automatic alerts about data changes and new market trends, allowing users to stay informed," adds Salomé Gordillo, a Data Analyst who also led this project. The functions of the ProCórdoba Commercial Intelligence Area Within the objectives of the Commercial Intelligence Area of the Province, which operates within the ProCórdoba Agency, this tool is implemented to offer precise and relevant information, allow technical queries to be resolved and develop automated solutions that integrate all consultation and analysis processes in a single accessible site, with interactive tools and trend prediction. The data they provide is essential for strategic decision-making, as they integrate and visualize key information in an interactive format. Furthermore, predictive tools and automatic alerts allow governments, businesses, and professionals to stay ahead of market trends, optimizing decision-making and saving time on data analysis. The Business Intelligence staff also includes Lourdes Espósito and Serena Finello (heads of the In Company and FExIC programs) and Marina Falvo, coordinator of the INex (Export Intelligence) Program.
